Born on February 6, 1932, in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Nigam devoted his life to teaching and research, leaving an indelible mark on the field of zoology.
With a distinguished academic career spanning over four decades, Dr. Nigam authored numerous seminal textbooks, research papers, and articles that have inspired generations of students and scholars. Some of his notable works include:
– “Jantu Vigyan” (1956) – a textbook for intermediate students, approved by the U.P. Board of Education in 1957
– “Animal Biology” (1958) – a textbook co-authored with Late Mi. E.L. Jordan, translated from his earlier work “Jantu Vigyan”
– “Biology of Chordates” (1964) – a textbook for university students, prescribed in Oxford University, London
– “Biology of Non-Chordates” (1965)
– “Emerging Trends in Biology” (1989) – renowned textbooks for university students

The Indian Medical Association (IMS) honored him in 2006.

He had outlived his four children, including three daughters and a son, who passed away in August 2023. Despite facing immense personal loss, Dr. Nigam remained steadfast in his commitment to his work and his family.
